About me
I am currently in my 16th year in education (third year with Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) New Jersey). I worked as an English/Language Arts and Journalism teacher in public and charter schools across Jersey City, Roselle, and Newark. Before becoming an educator, I worked for the Associated Press on the National News Desk and as a sub-editor for an online legal publication, experiences that strengthened my ability to enhance students' writing, research, and critical thinking skills at a high level.
In two short years as a Specialist, I earned the 2024 High Performer Award from JAG National and was named the sole Outstanding Specialist in New Jersey in 2025, achieving both 5-of-5 and 6-of-6 JAG National benchmarks measuring student success. Under my leadership, the Plainfield JAG Class of 2025 earned over $7 million in scholarships and grants and received over 150 college acceptances, including Ivy League institutions. The Class of 2026 earned over $11 million and received nearly 200 college acceptances.
Students also earned top placements at three consecutive JAG National and State Career Development Conferences, secured two Outstanding Chapter Awards, and a Merit Award for community service (28 awards in total). I also supported the growth of several students into state-level leadership roles.
Beyond the classroom, I have facilitated national professional development workshops for College Board and the JAG National Training Seminar, focusing on college access, leadership development, and instructional empowerment.
I am currently working on my Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Rutgers University.👩🏾🎓 I love to travel ✈️ (Australia🇦🇺, Iceland🇮🇸 & Cuba🇨🇺 were my favorites!) I look forward to connecting with other educators!
